Victory!  Mayor repents, drops Pastors subpoenas

The openly Lesbian Mayor Annise Parker of Houston Texas has repented and withdrawn her subpoenas against five Christian pastors, who are no longer required to turn over their sermons or speeches to the government.  God heard our prayers!

"Houston’s mayor says the city has withdrawn subpoenas seeking speeches and other information from five pastors who publicly opposed an ordinance banning discrimination of gay and transgender residents," reports AP/The Blaze.

"Mayor Annise Parker said Wednesday that the subpoenas weren’t intended to infringe on anyone’s religious freedoms, but rather to help the city defend itself against a lawsuit challenging the ordinance that the City Council approved in May."

Watch!  Dr. Chaps 7-minute TV commentary on why a Lesbian Mayor subpoenaed five Christian pastors to turn over their sermons to the government-->

"The pastors, dubbed 'the Houston five,' said the subpoenas violated their First Amendment rights.

"A spokesman for the mayor’s office recently revealed that as many as 1,000 Bibles were sent to Parker as an act of protest."

[Dr. Chaps' comment:  Sadly, Mayor Parker continues to defend her awful co-ed bathroom ordinance, despite these pastors having gathered 50,000 petitions to overturn.  Outrageously 35,000 were thrown out for bogus reasons, with Mayor Parker now claiming only 15,000 were gathered, just under the 17,269 required to overturn her awful abuse of power.  Be sure to watch our interview with one of the five pastors, below.]

Let's stand up for pastors and petition Congress to overturn the 1954 Johnson Amdt.

Pastor: I'd rather go to Jail than obey Lesbian Mayor's subpoena

One of the five pastors says he would rather go to jail than obey the Lesbian Mayor of Houston's subpoena to turn over his sermons to the government.

I just got an exclusive TV interview with Pastor Dave Welch, leader of 400 pastors in the Houston Area Pastors Council, and 1 of 5 pastors subpoenaed to turn over his sermons to the government by the Lesbian Mayor of Houston, Annise Parker.  On our show, he said:

Pastor Dave Welch:  "If push comes to shove, these pastors, and I included, are more than happy to wear orange for a while,if that's necessary.  We're not going to yield our first amendment rights.  Not in any shape, fashion, or form."

Chaplain Klingenschmitt:  "You're ready to go to jail over this?"

Pastor Dave Welch:  "Absolutely.

Watch!   Dr. Chaps' news-making TV interview with courageous Pastor Dave Welch of the Houston Area Pastors Council, ready for jail rather than obedience to tyranny-->

The pastors of Houston helped gather 50,000 petition signatures to overturn the Lesbian Mayor's awful co-ed bathroom ordinance, but the Mayor threw out 35,000 of those signatures and falsely claimed they didn't meet the 17,269 signature requirement to allow a public vote to reverse her co-ed bathroom "law."  Now she uses subpoenas as raw political retribution to punish pastors.

By intimidating the pastors with subpoenas to turn over their sermons, her government is violating the pastors' freedom of speech, assembly, petition, and religion.

Let's petition Congress to reverse the 1954 Johnson Amendment.

Lesbian Mayor Subpoenas Pastors to Turn over Sermons

Multiple sources confirm the Lesbian Mayor of Houston is threatening pastors and demanding they turn over records of any sermon about homose xuals, or their so-called "bathroom law" that forces women to share bathrooms with cross-dressing men men.

"The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor," reports FoxNews.  "And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court."

"The city’s subpoena of sermons and other pastoral communications is both needless and unprecedented," Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Christina Holcomb said in a statement. "The city council and its attorneys are engaging in an inquisition designed to stifle any critique of its actions."
"ADF, a nationally-known law firm specializing in religious liberty cases, is representing five Houston pastors. They filed a motion in Harris County court to stop the subpoenas arguing they are 'overbroad, unduly burdensome, harassing, and vexatious.'"

Months ago the Mayor pushed through a co-ed "bathroom law," angering Christians.

"The Houston Chronicle reported opponents of the ordinance launched a petition drive that generated more than 50,000 signatures – far more than the 17,269 needed to put a referendum on the ballot.

"However, the city threw out the petition in August over alleged irregularities.

"After opponents of the bathroom bill filed a lawsuit the city’s attorneys responded by issuing the subpoenas against the pastors."

[Dr. Chaps' comment:  This is bold, brazen, defiant on both sides.  The pastors are defying the Mayor's tyranny, and the Mayor is defying the Constitution.  I predict chaos, and this will back-fire against the Mayor in the upcoming elections.  Let's support the pastors.]

Let's petition Congress to reverse the 1954 Johnson Amendment that punishes sermons:

Friends, our Congress must vote on the record, for or against pulpit freedom.   Let's take a stand today, and demand free speech be restored to churches and pastors.
God Bless you, in Jesus' name,

  1. it should be clear that if pastors want to be involved in politics ,then they should pay taxes, along with their churches ........referring to the mayor as a lesbian mayor is pretty homophobic ,as much as you don`t like it lesbian is not against the law anymore .....the mayor must have been elected by the people and she serves at the will of the people ..... those pastors should do as christ did and pray more .......stop trying to shove your likes and beliefs down other peoples throats ........ separation means tax free means no politics .....

    1. Yes I ave been following this story.
It's a fine example of abuse of power by elected officials.
She should run for office here as we seem to have a outstanding number of people who vote for such people .

  2. I recall a magistrate and sheriff that wanted to make it so the could search a citizens home as part of a bond agreement over a petty traffic ticket issued to a man without a questionable background. It turns out he had Bern critical of them in public.
That's what stories like this make me think of clear abuse of power.

  3. Its seems to me the mayor was serving herself and her political agenda not the people.
As for the pastors , many times its not that they want to be involved in politics but by following their faith and speaking out about what they believe has the affect of involving them.

  4. Rarely in my experience do public officials fail to not let their lifestyle, religion or political beliefs affect their vote or actions in office.
What the result is amounts to doing what benefits certain groups not the public in general.
