The State should "turn over" Snowshoe to the County? Does that mean the State should have the power to seize your land and "turn it over" to somebody if YOU get into debt?
I would rent land to someone who wanted to build a windmill.but not if he was using a gov grant to do it,because that would guarantee that he had no real business plan, and would go broke as soon as the gov $ ran out and never pay me rent!
AND where would the Co Comm stand if the wind developer wanted to steal my land or yours for a transmission line?
(1) What about the Military Industrial Complex (MIC), warned about by Pres. Eisenhower – it’s a government-run business! As major stockholders, doesn’t the MIC own the corporate-news-media? Take a Look around the World, the most successful countries ALSO OWN THEIR OWN ENERGY-RESOURCES – Oil & Gas, Water & Minerals, etc.? Natural Resources should be owned by 'the government', as public-corporations, run as public-utilities! Natural Resources should NOT be controlled by private individuals, families, cartels or corporations since WE ALL OWN IT IN COMMON! Look at Alaska: The State owns all Natural Resources, when sold, pays EVERY CITIZEN each year A CHECK for thousands-of-dollars regardless of where they live! West Virginia does the same, called a 'severance-tax', but it goes to each Board of Education – which does what? Gives itself a Raise while laying-off Teachers & Staff! Isn’t that what is being done here?
(2) The GVEDC is a private-corporation, acts as a 'private country club', & has LIVED OFF hundreds-of-thousands-of-dollars taken out of Pocahontas County! Name one positive thing that the GVEDC has ever done for this county! Who heads it up since the beginning? Phil Cain & his cronies as the titular head of the 'Pocahontas Poverty Preservation Society'! Twenty-five years ago Cain & Joel Callison & cronies ‘stole’ Denmar State Hospital from the people of this county for their own financial gain – now they’re trying to grab every penny for the rebuilding of Marlinton so they can live-off the rental income! Is that right? NO! Because a government is supposed to protect the necessities of life, i.e., food, clothing & shelter of its Citizens, and not to secure the highest possible profits for moneylenders and profiteers! Has the county commission protected us at any given time in the last 25 years – OR – let the moneylenders & profiteers do as they pleased in this county? That's why it's Time for a Real Change! A county development authority is supposed to search for clean businesses to provide honest jobs, pay a 'Living-Wage' not a 'Minimum-Wage', raise the tax-base & provide social programs to assist the community at larges! 'Cell Phones' will bring new jobs & help Senior Citizens use ‘Medic Alert’ for emergencies! 'Wind Turbines' will bring new jobs + provide low-cost electricity – forever! If the State becomes the Receiver of Intrawest & Fortress & gives operating control to this county – think of the PROGRESS & PROSPERITY that would generate! If land-owners with Natural Spring Water joined the Pocahontas Pure Water CO-OP to make Pure Water the #1 Business in this county – that’s NEW MONEY for the families of this county! Why stay in Poverty when PROSPERITY stares us in the face?

SO WHY NOT for Intrawest & Donald Trump? They owe in excess of $1.5 BILLION & have only five-seasonal-resorts left in their pocket! How can a winter or summer seasonal business pay off that Debt? SO, YES – WV can become the RECEIVER, take over & give those Resorts to this county to operate day to day – as we do already at a ‘Minimum-Wage’ instead of a ‘Living-Wage’!
(4) How about understanding 'CONTRACT LAW' whereby all parties are to be protected in agreements, etc.? Aren’t GOVERNMENT GRANTS supposed to be for specific purposes – LIKE START UP CAPITAL – to avoid being a victim of predatory bank moneylenders & profiteers? Grants are not for day to day operations! Having said that, take a look at the current county commission giving High Rocks, a tax-exempt organization, bag after bag of county money for the DAILY OPERATIONS & SALARIES OF THOSE AT HIGH ROCKS, including commission candidate Sarah (Burk-Kinderman) Riley who is also the Executive Director along with her mother Susan Burk! Is that right – while the Durbin Library remains unfinished along with no covered Pavilion for the Farmers CO-OP? Of course not – but that's the difference between the current county commission and one with Righteous persons who place the Common Good before Self or any Self-serving Special Interest!
(5) Lastly, a 'Wind Turbine' developer could not 'steal' anyone's land – that's what 'CONTRACTS' are for – but both the State & County could 'steal your land' via what is called 'eminent domain'! Isn’t that what they tried to do to Sharp's Farm to force the ‘Taxpayers’ to pay for a new sewer-treatment-plant for Intrawest? Isn’t that not what they are still after by forcing Durbin into the same Public Service District? That’s all the more reason that the State of West Virginia should become the Receiver over those Resorts!
